6 Tucson Breakfast Spots a Local Loves

If you think Tucson is just a breakfast-burrito kind of town, you haven’t been eating at the right places.

From old-school diners and legendary chorizo to French pastries and homemade cinnamon rolls, Tucson has a breakfast scene with plenty of personality. These are six local favorites I’d happily recommend when someone asks me where to get a good breakfast in Tucson.

Le Buzz

Le Buzz Caffe

Le Buzz Caffe is the kind of place where you stop in for coffee and suddenly two hours have gone by. Its two Tucson locations have that relaxed neighborhood-café feel: cyclists fueling up before the ride up Catalina Highway, friends catching up, and people settling in with their laptops.

The coffee is great, but the food deserves attention too. I love the quiche, and the breakfast sandwiches are stacked with flavor. If you’re more in the mood for a classic breakfast, they also serve eggs, bacon, and potatoes.

Then there’s the pastry case. Fresh pastries, baked goods, desserts, it’s dangerous in the best possible way. Le Buzz is a good reminder to slow down and enjoy your morning.

Breakfast at The Egg Connection in Tucson, Arizona.

The Egg Connection

For a classic, comforting breakfast, The Egg Connection on East Fort Lowell Road is a dependable choice. The cozy booths, friendly staff, and smell of breakfast make it feel familiar, even on your first visit.

The eggs Benedict is one of my favorites: poached eggs, rich hollandaise, and a fluffy English muffin. If you lean toward a sweet breakfast, try the Belgian waffles. They’re crisp around the edges, soft inside, and made fresh to order.

It’s also my dad’s favorite breakfast spot in Tucson. I think the old Western feel might have something to do with his love of John Wayne. Whatever the reason, this place has a comfortable, classic Tucson feel, and they do breakfast well.

Breakfast at Hungry Fox in Tucson, Arizona.

Hungry Fox

Hungry Fox has been serving Tucson since 1964. It’s one of my all-time favorite breakfast spots, with the kind of old-school comfort that makes you feel like a regular.

You can order the usual eggs, bacon, pancakes, and hash browns, but if you’re ready for a bigger plate, get the chicken-fried steak. It comes smothered in gravy, aggressively smothered, in the best way. Your happiness may go up more than your step count that day.

I also judge breakfast spots by their eggs Benedict, and the Sonoran eggs Benedict here is fantastic. Chorizo, eggs, an English muffin, and chipotle hollandaise: trust me, it works. And after all that, they’ll tempt you with giant homemade cinnamon rolls. You may need a nap afterward.

Breakfast at Jerry Bob’s, a classic Tucson diner.

Jerry Bob’s

With locations around Tucson, Jerry Bob’s is the answer when someone says, “Let’s just go to Jerry Bob’s.” It’s dependable, affordable, and known for big portions and classic diner food.

The breakfast burritos are a standout, packed with eggs, cheese, potatoes, and your choice of savory fillings. The chicken-fried steak is another comfort-food favorite, especially with hash browns and gravy.

There are no tiny portions or fussy menu names here, just the kind of breakfast that hits the spot.

Brunch at Ghini’s French Caffe in Tucson, Arizona.

Ghini’s French Caffe

Ghini’s French Caffe, near Prince Road and Campbell Avenue, feels like a little slice of France in Tucson. The menu has a more relaxed, European feel, with fresh flavors and plenty to explore.

The Provençal eggs are a favorite, with tomatoes, herbs, and garlic. For something sweet, try the crêpes. And save a little room to look at the bakery case: the pastries and tarts are hard to pass up.

If you’re looking for a breakfast that feels different from the classic diner plate, Ghini’s is worth a visit.

Breakfast at Joe’s Pancake House in Tucson, Arizona.

A hearty chorizo breakfast at Joe’s Pancake House in Tucson.

Joe’s Pancake House

At Golf Links and Kolb, Joe’s Pancake House serves the kind of generous, old-school Tucson breakfast that makes the drive worthwhile.

If you’ve never tried the chorizo plate, come hungry. It’s a big serving of chorizo with eggs, crispy hash browns, and tortillas. The chorizo is savory, smoky, and especially good with the eggs and potatoes.

The pancakes and waffles are just as over the top,in the best way. Think fluffy pancakes with whipped cream and chocolate chips, or golden waffles with butter melting across the top.
